In development

Building a process for boron-doped diamond electrodes.

What this is

BDD Lab is an independent effort to fabricate boron-doped diamond (BDD) electrodes. Conductive diamond used in electrochemistry for its wide potential window, low background current, and chemical durability.

The growth method is microwave plasma CVD, chosen because it has no heated filament in contact with the gas, removing a source of metal contamination that matters for electrode-grade diamond.

Where it stands

This is an active build. The reactor, its control and safety systems, and the characterization instruments are being developed and built in-house. The current focus is growth and per-sample characterization.
